Trip to Tucson, November 12, 2004

The trip was uneventful until west of Phoenix, when we had to pick our way through some weather.

This is west of Phoenix. We were holding at Gila Bend VOR for about half an hour waiting for clearance south through some military airspace to get around the weather.

We had to fly between two cells. I estimate they were 40-50 miles apart, but they sure don't look like it. They are HUGE. After passing between them, it was totally clear to Tucson. This was off to the left of us. This picture looks more threatening than it felt.

And this to the right.

A Tucson sunrise.

Big Bear ski area I beleive, as seen on the way home.

Central valley haze.
